Chat with the archeologists and archeology students over breakfast at the 2024 archeological dig at Fort Halifax Park.  This group from Juniata College, led by Dr. Jonathan Burns is here again for their third annual dig!  This year they are focused on finding the well, along with many other artifacts.  

Breakfast is served at 7:30am.  That’s a little early, but they have lots of work to do and want to take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures.

When you are finished with breakfast, you will launch from Goose Landing right at Fort Halifax and kayak the 6 easy miles down to Haldeman Island.  We will meet you there, load boats and bring you back to your cars at Fort Halifax Park.  

Kayak rental prices: $60/solo $90/tandem.     Shuttle-only prices:  $20/solo  $25/tandem

Appalachian Kayak is a mobile business traveling to several different locations. The number and type of boats on the trailer varies based on customer      requests. Therefore, it is required that you make reservations in advance. However, sometimes it is possible to join a shuttle at the last minute if it is not full. Sometimes we bring extra boats or have extra space for your boats. Please call to check for same-day availability.

Trips run rain or shine–we reserve the right to modify or cancel trips when severe weather and water conditions are determined unsafe by Appalachian Kayak’s management. If this occurs, we will reschedule or issue a rain check. Your rain check is transferable and does not expire.
