Reservations:  Appalachian Kayak is a mobile business traveling to several different locations. The number and type of boats on the trailer varies based on customer requests.    Therefore, it is required that you make reservations in advance.  However, sometimes it is possible to join a shuttle at the last minute if it is not full.  Sometimes we bring extra boats or have extra space for your boats. Please call to check for same-day availability.  Pre-scheduled locations can often be found on the Events tab or Facebook.

Guides:  Experienced kayak guides are often available by reservation for an additional cost, but are not required. If you wish to have a guided trip, you must indicate so when you make your reservation.

Cancellation Policy:    Prepayment or credit card information is required to hold your reservation.

Late Returns Policy:  Please be respectful of the people scheduled after you and stick to your rental return time.  If boats are not returned at the agreed-upon time, an additional fee may be charged.  If you are on the water and realize you are behind schedule, please call.  If you are uncertain of the time you are scheduled to be at the take-out point, please ask.

Weather Conditions Policy:   Trips run rain or shine–we reserve the right to modify or cancel trips when severe weather and water conditions are determined unsafe by Appalachian Kayak’s management. If this occurs, we will reschedule or issue a rain check.  Your rain check is transferrable and does not expire.

Other safety factors:   We reserve the right not to provide rental or shuttle to individuals who are visibly impaired/under the influence.

Children:  The minimum participant age is 9 years for a single kayak rental, or 6 years of age if riding in a tandem with an adult 18 years or older. (Our requirements for determining suitable weather and water conditions are elevated for trips including children.) If you are bringing someone else’s children, please have their parent or guardian sign their waiver.

Dogs   We love dogs!  Your dog is welcome to join you at no extra charge.  Doggie life vests are recommended.  Please call ahead.  Only one dog permitted on a shuttle at a time.
